  • Guide to registerable models, by mad as hec, MG 2010.

Bikes that can be registered, don't have compliance plates:
    CZ100 1962 -1966
    Z50M 1966-1969?
    Z50A 1969-1974ish

Models that came out with comp plates:
    Z50J1 1975-1978ish
    Z50JZ 1978-early 1982
    COMPLIANCED 40th anniversary (limited edition)

    models that cannot be registered:
    Z50R models
    CRF models
    Uncomplianced 40th anniversary

Certain 15+ year old imports can be regoed as well (Japanese models)

As a side issue there are CT70s ST70s CF70s and other HONDA "minis" that are also able to be registered.

ADR compliance plates didnt happen until late 1976 early 1977

Bikes built pre 1977 will most likely have manufacture build plates or nothing at all other than vin numbers.

ADR compliance plates were required on all bikes from 1 jan 1976 onwards. My J1 has a comp plate dated october 75

hope that you don't mind that I had saved your original post from MG and re-posted it here. Great info.

no baja is a different model again, usually a registered import but there may be a few complianced ones about, not 100% sure on that though..

I think Victoria is one of the hardest states for rego. Not easy to register A's but it can be done. You have to prove its a K2 u type that was originally intended for rego. As far as I know, its not possible to register a general export A in Vic.
Too many bikes, not enough ride days.
