  • Speedway Race Bikes

I get to meet some fantastic people and see some very interesting bikes being in the line of work that we are in.

Was fortunate to be invited to see a speedway practice session with Ben Shields and Fred Hall who are using China PitBike engines with the TB Parts V2 Race Head in their speedway bikes, have a look in the Race Events section for more action shots as these boys can ride and slide -

    Cheers

I think that the engine is used in second gear only, they don't use the engines clutch as they have the external clutch with primary and secondary chain drives.

Ben's bike uses the std clutch and 2nd gear while Fred's bike uses 4th gear with an external clutch.

        Cheers

              Building a 211 speedway bike

              I am building a 211cc speedway engine.
              Started with a 155HO put in a 60mm crank with a 155 rod, 67mm TB cylinder topend is a TBv2 ported head s35 cam.
TB 6 plate billet basket. Removed the kick starter internals.
30mm Mikuni Flat slide on methanol. Ignition is HPI 13 degree advance. Mounted on a takagawa backing plate.
Hoping to get around 25 to 28 bhp. Put it into a JRM speedway chassis.Zong 3.jpg
This is a photo with the standard 155.
I am sending it out to Perth and will ride it at the track up at Wanneroo. They have class for 2 valve internal clutch 250cc max.

I have found out the class is for Petrol only. So I have built a YX160 TB V2 head ported and a TB64mm cylinder, 6 plate TB clutch.

I thought I'd show some pics of my young bloke's junior speedway bike. The bike is from the UK and originally came with a Zongshen 125cc. I replaced that with a GPX125 that has done nearly 2 seasons. That was recently replaced with a 124cc Takegawa complete engine. Quite a handful for an 11 year old who weighs 26kg.

I'll have to edit the videos, most are around 300MB. Here's an action photo for now.

The 500cc are about 77kg so I'd guess these are around 65kg, maybe less. I'll put it on the scales and let you know.

thats a little rippa!....... it also has the rare " powerband " on the forks too
You have two parts of brain, 'left' and 'right'. In the left side, there's nothing right. In the right side, there's nothing left.
