  • Retune after CDI conversion?

    Hi all,

I've just gone from 6v/points to 12v cdi.

I've definitely got more power out of the bike now, and a fair few more revs too (superstreet rotor will be helping with this).

Question is, with the additional spark & revs, do I need to retune the carb?

This is how the plug looks:

Looks fine. It shouldn't change very much at all. Maybe top end slightly.
Life is too short for cheap carbs...

Why is the plug's thread look so oily?

Yep - that's the next problem.

There's no oil on the outside of the head, and its on the other side of the plug washer. I thought if there was that much coming from something like a valve stem seal into the chamber, it would be blowing smoke - but it doesn't blow any.

I've cleaned it up, and will pull it after another ride and see what it's like. Happy to hear any ideas but.

If its not a problem don't worry about it. Not unusual.
