  • Standard gearing 1977 j1?

    Hi all,
Sorry for the dumb question but I can't find a definitive answer.
What is the stock gearing for Z50J1? One Parts book says 12t /37t? But I've read in other parts book 14/37 also?

Going to be running a stock 50cc, so just want it to be right gearing for the road.
    Cheers .

    For a Z50J1 12/37 is stock gearing.

For an adult on the road would be looking more at a 13 or 14 tooth front sprocket for a little more top speed depending on how much power your 50cc engine is currently making.

    Cheers

      Thanks , Jaimie.
maybe I should buy a selection from you.
Currently my 50 isn't making any power...it's in bits. Still trying to decide which state of tune to build the engine.

      Cheers.

Certainly not a bad idea Marty, it took a few combos to get mine the way I liked. Fronts are ceap and quick to swap out.
