  • Yamaha YSR80 wont idle

    Hi everyone
    I have a Yamaha YSR80.
    I dont ride it often.
I took it out today it has been sitting in the garage for about 4 months.
The bike starts with the choke on and idles.
The bike wont idle with the choke off even after it had warmed up.
It has never done this before. I gave it a good run with the choke on as soon as the choke went off
the bike wouldnt idle and stopped. Can anyone help. Thanks

If there was fuel left in the fuel bowl it may have evaporated and left the crap behind like the pictures below that can block or restrict fuel flow through the jets:

If it is gummed up can give it a clean with a carb cleaner.

    Cheers

+1 on that. The gummy varnish wont go through the jets.

Yep a good clean of the carb won’t hurt.

        Would you sell the ysr80.?

I'd drain the fuel and start fresh before you start pulling carbs apart.

              Hi all
I finally got time to take the carby off and pull it apart.
              Jamie you was spot on.
Everything looked pretty clean until i found the pilot jet.
It was blocked solid, carby cleaner on its own didnt have a chance.
Cleared the pilot jet with a strand of very fine electrical wire.
Bike running great and idling perfect.
              Thanks
