    - The 3.50x8 rim pulls the sidewall of the tyre out much flatter than the 2.75x8 rim:

    - Just have to sand and paint the hubs to get the wheels back on:

        Hey there,
Out of curiosity, what is the procedure for making the cases pretty....is it bead blasting, then sanding with? wet and dry??
        cheers Peter

With my own cases I lightly media blast them with fine glass then I use a steel wool soap pad to bring them to the finish I like, if you want them show finish smooth you can use a fine grade of wet and dry paper to remove any scratches or blemishes.

Hard to go past vapourblasting these days for a finish better than a factory finish: https://www.newcastlevapourblasting.com/

Have been in a back spasm since the Tuesday before Easter and finally got back on my feet over the weekend and straight down to the shed to work on my JZ.

Have been waiting on our Kitaco order with sprockets included, Woo Woo:
                    DSC01976.jpg

Hubs painted with Duplicolor Silver Ceramic Caliper Paint, Hi-tensile rim bolts installed, replaced the original Honda OEM 8 x 16 hub bolts with OEM 8 x 20 bolts so that the threads go all the way to the ends of the holes in the hubs with the thicker alloy wheels:
                    DSC01990.jpg

                    Kitaco 28 tooth rear sprocket:
                    DSC01997.jpg

                    The Heidenau 4.00 x 8 tyre fits perfect on a 3.50 x 8 rim:
                    DSC02000.jpg

Takegawa brake arms, the back arm is the same length as stock but the front is longer than stock:
                    DSC02004.jpg

The duplicolor caliper paint is not exactly the same as cloud silver but will do the job:
                    DSC02005.jpg

I like to use a yellow marking pen to paint the end of bolts when they have been loctited and tensioned:
                    DSC02008.jpg

The 28 tooth sprocket is a tad smaller than the stock 37 tooth sprocket:
                    DSC02010.jpg

Tried an NHRC down pipe to see how it looked as the down pipes make the most power on the dyno but I plan on doing a lot of riding on the dirt and it would of got damaged quite quickly if I fall off the bike, have fitted an NHRC up pipe which also sticks out a bit but not as much so I will go with this pipe till I finish the exhausts that we are making that tuck in like a stock pipe:
                    DSC02017.jpg

So close and getting a little excited to be getting back on the road, just have to keep my spine together to be able to enjoy a decent ride
                    DSC02013.jpg

Not far to go now just need to be able to stay on my feet long enough to get it finished, have to prepare the document to give to the engineer to get the engine capacity increase to the TB Parts 108cc stroker approved for rego.

                    Cheers

                    Jaimie

It has been another year gone by as my JZ curse continues and unfortunately I could not keep on my feet long enough to get past the final few hurdles to get my JZ back on the road, in the past 2 years I have spent 59 weeks in a back spasm out of a 78 week stint and most of that time was spent laying on the floor between two large cushions or in bed, every time I do something to my JZ the shit seems to hit the fan and my life goes south for a while, I must have done too much at some stage as we got hit with a few ton of shit over the last 2 years.

This must have been too much work at once but it has been bugging me for a long time, I wanted to use my old switch but could never find the repair parts:

                      - My JZ Hi/Lo beam switch was already broken when I purchased the bike 25 years ago:
                      DSC05180 S.jpg

                      - I found a TB Parts switch rebuild kit that looked very similar but the part I needed was a little different:
                      0054.JPG

                      - Time to make one part from two, off with it's head:
                      DSC05198 S.jpg

                      - I filed the top of the original switch part flat and used an Oxy tip cleaning drill to drill two holes in the post to accept some support rods:
                      DSC05185 S.jpg

                      - I used an old paper clip for the two support posts:
                      DSC05192 S.jpg

                      - Holes drilled in both parts ready to be joined and glued together:
                      DSC05202 S.jpg

                      - Both parts align correctly on the support rods:
                      DSC05206 S.jpg

                      - Fits like a glove:
                      DSC05209 S.jpg

                      DSC05216 S.jpg

                      DSC05221 S.jpg

                      - The TB Parts kit switch knob is different to the original but will do the job:
                      DSC05228 S.jpg

                      - This glue works a treat with plastics, sand it smooth when you are finished for a seamless join:

                        - New and repaired parts ready for their new home:

                        DSC05248 S.jpg

                        - Time to clean and lubricate inside the switch before installing the new parts:
                        DSC05256 S.jpg

                        - I prefer to use a white perforated compression mat to work on as parts don't roll around like on a white towel or sheet:
                        DSC05267 S.jpg

                        - Take plenty of pictures when pulling apart electrical components as you never know when something is going to spring apart:

But something really good came out of a shit time as I ended up losing 20kg in weight from all the stress and worry which was a relief as all my doctors, friends and relatives thought that my brain tumor was back or I was dying of a secondary cancer, when I hit 75kg my back finally popped back in, I made it down to 72kg before the weight loss stopped and have put a few kg back on and look healthier for it, just need to work on putting some muscle back on and improving my fitness levels.

I have joked with people for years about the best performance upgrade for your Z50 being to lose 10kg - 20kg as you will not only save money on the upgrade but on food as well at 75kg or 17kg lighter my stock 50's engines feel like 70's and I have been able to make my suspension softer which is also better on my back so win-win all round.
