My Dad swapped this Z50 with a man who had daughters (no sons) who had won it in a raffle, with a new pushbike or possibly two. Dad reconed it was 1975 and the date stamp under the tank says the tank was made in 1974 (So it's likely the Z is a 1974). I'm not sure how long the guy had it before Dad scored it for us.

I've had the bike follow me around since it stopped running when I was in Grade 12 at school. My Wife told me to dump it every time we moved house. I'm glad I kept it.

Now.....before you read too much into the next photo, it was 1981 and I was probably drinking or something similar that day. I assure you I'm heterosexual!

My mate Simon has the Z50 muffler in his hand.

I went to Autobarn to get a spary can made up with a metallic colour that was close. Turned out not to be so close to the factory candy as my frame colour had changed too much.

The dents in the tank are the same on both sides so I thought they must have been normal. I didn't remember how it looked when I rode it as a kid.

Added the long fender that was rechromed at Pine Rivers Electroplating.

The next step is to strip it back to the undercoat/bare metal and spray it the same as this spare tank I got from eBay and sprayed with the 3 part candy rattlecan system.

Nice pix, and good to see a bike that has been around for so long getting used.
